In essence, the Acura TSX is a Honda Accord with some refinement. It was sold in North America with the expectation primarily of the US market.
The designers clearly wanted to give the car more aggressive, fast-paced, which resulted in rather sharp lines. But at the same time, such strict outlines do not hurt the eyes at all, but on the contrary. The car has a certain charisma. In red, black and silver colors, the body looks especially impressive. True, there are certain complaints about the quality of the paint itself: chips and small scratches appear relatively quickly. Beauty and sportiness adds body kit Type-S. Of course, in the presence of a snowy winter and the poor work of public utilities, such a “skirt” will serve as a snow-removing shaft.
Let’s move on to a detailed examination of the car from the inside. After all, this is where we will spend most of our lives. I would like to note right away that the dashboard is different from the “Accord” and looks more spectacular. From which I conclude: it was not in vain that it was finalized. The plastic is also very pleasant to the touch, of course, not like the touch of a girlfriend, but, in my opinion, even sophisticated motorists should like it. Like the rest of the salon as a whole. The leather is perforated, quite thin and soft. By 200,000 km of run, small tears appear in places on such a coating, but this disease is treated simply: with an awl, needle, thread and the presence of hands that grow from the right place.
The doors are heavy, the insulation for a Japanese car is just fine. Anyone who has ridden other, older “Japanese” knows what it’s like to hear the howling of the wind.
The suspension is reliable, durable and not very expensive. Ball bearings are changed separately from the lever, they cost a little, like rear bearings. But there are also comments. Of course, for Western European and American roads, such a suspension would be just perfect, but for ours it is harsh. True, it enters the turns very well, I can’t even believe that this is a large four-seater sedan. If you don’t feel like driving, counting potholes and wondering where the money goes that we spend on road repairs when we receive an inspection, then this problem is treated quite simply – by replacing the car.
Anyone who has had the slightest experience with Honda has probably heard of super-duper-cool VTEC engines that simply amaze with their individuality and reliability. Acura was equipped with a 2.4-liter gasoline power unit with an i-vtec system. The i-vtec system is “variable valve timing with electronic… blah blah blah.” In simple terms, the output is very high power and good efficiency. Seemingly incompatible things, but Honda managed to do it. Just imagine: 2.4 liters without turbos, and more than 200 horsepower. With. (however, it was removed from the flywheel, but who cares), and the consumption on the “mechanics” along the highway is 7.5 liters of gasoline per hundred kilometers. It is hardly possible to name another engine in the same price category without a turbine with the same reliability, power and low consumption. So it turns out that everyone who has this engine in a car shouts in any dialogue about cars: VTEC.
The forums believe that 200,000 km for this engine is just a run-in. But it happens that after such a run there is a relatively small of oil: this is for those who like to turn the engine up to 7 thousand revolutions, for those who outplayed Need For Speed: Underground 2. By the way, Acura TSX was present in the game. And taking into account the crisis, the car has become even more affordable for an ordinary Belarusian.
Is Acura the best choice for the average Belarusian citizen? It is difficult to unequivocally answer this question, of course, there are disadvantages: stiff suspension; there is little space for the battery, as a result of which it is necessary to install a battery of a smaller capacity; in winter, in severe frost, you may not start; rear arches from salt by 10 years of their life do not feel the best way – it is advisable to initially process and prepare them for winter.
There are questions to the car, but they do not spoil the overall impression. Owners are willing to close their eyes only because this car gives young drivers a taste of what it’s like to be a real racer, and more experienced drivers the comfort of a big car (the trunk is really big), low consumption and rational economy. As a result, it turns out that for the pluses you forgive the car for all its minor flaws.
