Types of diagnostic connectors used on Mercedes:

Connector Type 1 - 9-pin round connector Stamps and years (approximately): some models 1985-1993. In particular, MB 190 (W201), S-class (W126), G-class (W461, W463)

Typical location: under the hood. Left in the direction of travel. Closed plastic screw cap

Connector Type # 2 - 8 Pin Rectangular Connector

Stamps and years (approximately): part of the models of 1988-1993.

Note: Instead of 2 and 4 pins, it may have a self-test button and a LED.
